Guest guest
Hi All, If you are squeamish, please move on to the next message. My dh had his surgery last Tuesday. I need to know if anyone has experienced this problem. He has started passing what appear to be blood clots in what would typically be his stool (if he were eating solids). Has anyone experienced this post-op? I am somewhat concerned....knowing that I'm sure there probably was blood in the intestines from the surgery...but also worried it might be a problem. I can't call the bariatric dept. on the weekend as no one is there. Please let me know via this list or privately. Thanks, Kim B. Guest guest
Kim, I suggest you take him in to the emergency room where he had surgery. I say that particular one because they can get a hold of the surgeon that did his surgery. If it is too far, go to the closet emergency room. Rather safe than sorry. Or you can call them. Don't take any chances and for this reason and this reason only I say go in instead of calling. Guest guest
I would go to the ER where he had his surgery. Not another hospital. He needs to be checked right away. I dont think this is normal at all. Keep us posted > > Hi All, > If you are squeamish, please move on to the next message. > > My dh had his surgery last Tuesday. Guest guest
Kim This definitely needs to be checked out by a doctor to make sure there's not a problem. I had blood on my first solid stools do to them being to hard and I had a hemroid. Clots don't sound right to me. Call the advise nurse line and at least see what they advise you. If he has lots of blood get him to the emergency room, tell him he had WLS, and make sure on you call the Bariatric Dept., I was told there is a surgeon on call that will call you back if an emergency happened and if no one calls you back then call first thing Monday. I really hope every thing is fine. Let us know please. Your dh is in our prayers and thoughts, you too because this is a lot on you. Take care. Guest guest
Kim, How is he feeling otherwise? I had a blood transfusion after my Surg. I was having rectal bleeding but it was quite a bit. My blood pressure was also dropping due to it. I was told that maybe a staple or something caused the problem. Maybe they need to check his blood levels to make sure he is not bleeding internally. He could have just residual left in him that is comming out. If you have a blood pressure machine maybe you could check his BP too and see how that is doing if it is very low then maybe worry that he could still be bleeding. I would get ahold of someone and ask. Safe is better than Sorry.. Keep us posted In my thoughts RoseDonna Jordon wrote: Kim This definitely needs to be checked out by a doctor to make sure there's not a problem.
