Guest guest
Hello!! I know that Tremor is very common with fatigue and common with Mito. Joey has always had it, yet now that he has started school, It is really effecting him. He wrote the numbers 123456, today. I really wanted to cry. You know those scwiggly pens that take batteries. Well I ask the teacher if he had used one of those, being very serious. Of course he hadn't. His OT had suggested a wrist band at one time and we would just wait awhile. Has any one ever seen one of these or use one. Or other than medication, what could be do to help? Any help would be GREAT. Have a healthy weekend!!! Guest guest
My daughter has very bad tremors. She wears a weight wrist band that helps to steady her some. She also has knuckle weights that she uses when she is trying to use a pencil, silverware, etc. She has a weighted vest that helps to settle her trunk a little bit which in turn helps her extremities. The extra weight really helps. She also has a tremor feeding kit which is awesome. It contains a weighted cup with lid(she often spills without it), weighted utensils, and a plate with suction cups so it does not go sliding on her. Really try adding some extra weight. My daughter still shakes even with the extra weight BUT she can actually do things because the weight is there, where without it she can not. You could start with those little wrist weights in the exercise section of Wal-Mart to see if it helps before spending any money on the expensive stuff from Medical Equipment Companies. Insurance covered my daughters equipment but the vest they sent was WAY too small and we were having a time trying to get it returned. I was easily able to make her another one (once you see it, it is so easy and simplistic). Hope that helps some. Heidi

Guest guest
Hi , I am not exactly sure where they all came from. Essentially, the equipment was approved by the insurance company. Then, we had an equipment meeting with different vendors...those vendors bidded on the charge of ALL equipment...lowest bidder won and gathered the equipment form different sources. I do know that http://www.theraproducts.com has some of it. Also try http://www.abilitations.com . The vest....well that is easy and MUCH cheaper to make than to buy from a company. You can get a regular vest pattern from Wal-Mart. On the inside lining, make pockets that run all the way across...sectioned with Velcro at the top. For tremors, according to our OT, it is best to have the weight closer to the shoulders(a lot of vest that you buy have the weight at the bottom rim of the vest). Once the vest is complete, attach that nylon mesh stuff and a clamp to close. To weight the vest, make little bean bags to fit in the inside pockets. We used BBs as weight. We have a bunch a bean bags and that way we can use a few if she is tremoring lightly and a lot if she is having a really bad day. I know it sounds complicated but the one I made is MUCH better and more useful than the one the equipment guy ordered. Heidi
