I enjoy reading all posts about and to anyone. As far as insurance goes, I

am on a mission to find the right insurance now so I can get my wls done as

soon as possible. Some people have said that HMOs cover 70%. Well, that is

better than nothing and I would be willing to do that if necessary. I have

been checking insurance companies on the internet and calling for information

to be mailed to me.

I don't want to outright ask about the wls since I am afraid they won't want

to insure me if they think they will have to be paying for a big bill as soon

as I get insured.

So I will wait and see what I get in writing. I already got information from

Aetna BCBS here in Cleve, OH area and they say they rule out anything

concerning obesity, so guess what? I am not buying their insurance!

Has anyone else been on this quest for buying self-insurance to get the

surgery? If so, who has been successful in finding a company and getting the

surgery?

Carole

PS I love this list - I wait everyday to get it. And, I must REALLY want

this surgery because I dreamed about it last night! :-)

PPS I want to be healthy but I also want to be THIN. :-)

Carole,

If you are buying a personal policy (as opposed to group coverage)

than you have quite a minefield to cover. Watch out for pre-existing

condition clauses. Do you have any other health care coverage (no

matter how poor), as 18 months of continous coverage is needed to

avoid the pre-existing condition clauses. Otherwise you are in for a

long wait and they may turn you down just because of your weight.

Good Luck,

Hull
