Guest guest
Has anyone been prescribed aricept for the short term memory loss? I am still trying to see if mine is temporary. I can only hope but one never knows and my doctor was talking about it yesterday as a trial. I am still undergoing IV treatments since it has only been a few months. Thanks Kat
Guest guest
Kat, I have been on a medication called Namenda for short term memory loss and it has helped a bit. I am better than before but there are days when the memory problems are still bad. Barb J.K wrote: Has anyone been prescribed aricept for the short term memory loss? Guest guest
No, I did not start out on it yet. I am afraid to take it. I read up on it and it states that if you stop it it might make your memory worse. Right now I have short term memory loss but it is better right now since I had my IV treatment and it is okay when I am at home most times. It is when I am at work and I am hoping that it gets better. KatSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
I know that Aricept is used for Alzheimer's, but really not up on it other than that. Have you started it already? Guest guest
Hi KatI was dx with neuro in 1999. I am in remission at the moment but the memory problems and all the problems that go along with it never go away. I was prescribed aricept by my neurologist last year but had to stop because it so expensive and was not covered by disability insurance. I was given a 3 month sample supply and seemed to work while I was on it. Guest guest
Hi guys, I was surprised to hear there was a drug for memory problems. That really sounds interesting. I am going to have to ask my doctor about it. One question if you don't mind, do you know why your insurance wouldn't cover it? I don't have disablilty insurance, I have insurance through my husband's work. I will have to call and see if its covered. Thanks a lot for the info. Debbie T. Guest guest
From what my neurologist said Aricept is extremely expensive is not covered by disability at the moment. They usually are the last to accept certain meds for other than what they prescribed for. You may not have a problem with your insurance company. She also said that the drug company sometimes may donate the drugs if the person cannot afford to buy it, so I will also be talking to her about that soon, so wish me luck and keep me in your prayers. Guest guest
I was surprised to hear there was a drug for memory problems Deb, I imagine that the diagnosis would need to be dementia, or Alzheimers. If your MD will use this diagnosis, then it shouldn't be a problem to get. Take care, Tracie************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
