Elevated Liver Enzyms

Yes, they can return to normal. Grace has had issues with her liver all of her life. Before her mito cocktail was started she always had very high enzymes (500-2000 range). Since her cocktail she is pretty close to normal (usually 150's or so), which for her is nothing to worry about.

Cell damage does not usually occur with just elevated enzymes but, if it is inflammation causing the elevation yes it can cause damage. Fortunately the liver can usually heal itself and the problems will go away after the inflammation goes away. In Graces case, however, she had such bad inflammation for so long that she has developed fibrosis in her liver, which is permanent scar tissue. It should not cause many problems later in life, but she will always take a medication for it and have to be extremely careful with how medications are metabolized.

Have they ever given her a liver biopsy? This is the only real way to know if the liver is being damaged or not. Grace has had three.

Baby's crying, gotta go. Email me if you need any other info.

Best wishes.

Do the elevated liver enzyms ever go back to normal? Abigail's

always seem to be high. The highest (that we have caught...for some

reason they always look well after a crisis) has been around 1000,

the lowest around 200. By definition isn't it true that cell damage

is being done to the liver when the enzyms are high in the blood

test?

Thx for your help and opinions in advance.
