Guest guest
I had to go to Grand Rapids, MI for a work conference this week. I stayed from Monday afternoon to Thursday morning. I stayed in the JW Marriott and sent an email to the kitchen manager with a list of foods I could and couldn't have. The first night I was there I met with the chef that planned my meals for the entire time. It was the best experience I've had since being on the diet. The kitchen manager said something like, we are used to dealing with special diet but your's is so restrictive. The chef was standing right there and said, no actually this is exactly what I needed. I understand your needs. What do you normally eat in a day. I explained I usually eat a big portion of meat and well cooked veggies. She asked me to give her some sample meals so I did. My meals were perfect every time. The people at the conference were kind of jealous when I was being served salmon filets over sauteed squash, filet Mignon over broccoli, shrimp salad with strawberries, baby spinach, and a fresh dressing. I am having no complications from the trip. Even before I went on the trip I was symptomatic but I think I feel better than when I left. So, if you're ever going to stay at a hotel, contact the kitchen staff beforehand, send them a list of the foods you can't have and that you do tolerate, meet with the chef and plan your meal out. I can't believe how well this worked for me. Misty Kimble CD - no meds SCD - 2 years

Guest guest
that's SO good to know -never thought any hotel but a disney/nickelodeon one would care - mine was so nicely included in my trip to Fla- but any idea what they charged for that?? - it does make you feel better - you're relaxing by not cooking and cleaning constantly - lol eileen 2 years scd > > I had to go to Grand Rapids, MI for a work conference this week. Guest guest
Misty, That's awesome! I love it when people are sympathic to our dietary needs. I had a similar situation at my best friend's rehearsal dinner. I wasn't even the one to talk to him, my best friend was. His response was to rub his hands together and say, " I love a challenge. " He came up with an amazing vegetarian SCD dish (and a second vegan SCD dish for my bf). Stacey > > I had to go to Grand Rapids, MI for a work conference this week.
