Guest guest
Hi, guys, Well I'm pre-op once more; had a bit of a scare from my pre-admission x-rays, had to postpone surgery (26th), but now scheduled for Friday, the 13th. I know, I know, but I'm hoping it will be lucky for me.The problem is, my insurance changes over to BCBS this Sunday. The consultant who negotiated the changeover for my Bd. of Ed. has assured me that the new contract is "as good or better" than the former with Cigna and that Cigna's approval will be honored by BCBS. I'll believe it when I see it! What I want is ammunition: all the approvals from BCBS's throughout the country (but especially anyone who might have Horizon BCBS in NJ). If anyone wouldn't mind giving me your name, insurance co. and date of surgery, and any other information I could use, I'd appreciate it. I'm not asking for pre-ops to respond; I'm afraid of calling attention to you and precipitating a rescinding of your approval. Thanks for any help you can afford and swing those chickens for me! Guest guest
Marcia, I would highly advise that you keep your Cigna until your surgery is over, even if that means paying your own premium. You can convert your old policy to an individual one. You get 60 days to do this. Don't trust the board of eduction unless they will put in writing that they will pay for the surgerey out of the general fund if you don't get coverage. What does good or better mean. Maybee it has a lower office copay or something like that. This may be good for routine visits for the kiddies, not for what you want. Guest guest
I had my DS in late April and so far my insurance is covering everything. I have BCBS FEP (Federal Employee Program), so basically I am covered by whichever BCBS is in the state that I'm in. In my case, BCBS of GA is handling the surgery, since that is where my Dr. was, even though I'm in Florida. Good luck, I'm pulling for you!!! -- Claudine Raymo jovilea@...
