Doesn't it have, at least, a " sell by " date on it? It's

generally good for a week or so after that date.

This is why a small piece of freezer tape with the " date in "

and " date out " on the package can be helpful in determining how

long it should be good.

The " date in " shows you how long you have in relation to the

sell by date, and the " date out " tells you when you took it out

of the freezer.

thanks, isn't the sell by date null and void at that point, if it's been frozen

awhile - because you'd be past that date when taking it out of the freezer

already

LOL. If I can get some food items into the freezer before they pass their

sell by dates, I consider it a good day! Let alone being all efficient

by marking down those dates on tape and such.

Well, most of the time, I'm lucky if I remember to put what it is on a

container of food.

It was rather surprising to open what I thought was a container of

celeriac mock potatoes and find it was really a container of brie sauce.

Not BAD, mind you. Just startling.

That's the reason for a " date in " and a " date out " on

it.

Say the sell-by date in Jan 30 2010.

You bought it on Jan 15.

You put it in the freezer that day. (Your " date in "

date)

On 28 February, you take it out. (Your " date out "

date)

If it's good for two weeks after the " sell by date, that means you

have the fifteen days from the time you bought it to its sell-by date,

and the two weeks after the sell by date, for about 29 days.

So it would be good till the end of March in your fridge.
