Hi...we have the Sleepsafe bed, it is so perfect for us that we just bought another for a new beach house. Our son is 5 year sold but cannot sit up, so it is perfect. We use it with a boxspring and mattress, but if you need the sides to be higher, you can skip the box and teh mattress goes deeper. Let me know if you have other questions...also the compnay is terrific, they ar eso concerned about the needs of teh child or adult it is being bought for, they will make sure it is good for you! You might try the Vail Bed..It is what I have for the exact reasons you are mentioning and our insurance paid for it and Medicaid also helps if you have that. I don't have the website but I know a search engine would help you bring it up. Good Luck!

hi, i was just interested to see if anyone has a special safety bed

for their child. anna grace is getting pretty long and starting to

outgrow her crib. it would be unsafe for her to be in a regular bed

with normal bed rails...she would just flip herself out.

i have looked online and have come across hospital type beds and

also a wooden mission style bed made by sleepsafebed.

i would greatly appreciate any info you all might have.

thanks,

bethany

Bethany:

I'm not sure how much it would cost to ship it; but there is a gentleman

here in Appleton that makes custom beds for chiildren with special

needs. It is made out of wood so as to resemble a more regular bed.

They are higher up and have sides on them. I will try and find his

email web site if you wish. I know I've posted before on this guy. His

work is very high quality. He made a special chair and table for Leah;

one similiar to a catalog kind. He does beautiful work and they are

well made. Let me know. This is what he does for a living; helping out

families with special needs. He use to be an engineer for

. He makes riftin chairs, etc.

When turned 3 and was so big we decided to go with a hospital

bed. It is great. It may not be the most beautiful. We asked for a

new one (since we intend on the insurance company purchasing it in

the long run). the side rails are great, but I really love the fact

that you can raise the height of the bed for treatments so I don't

have to bend down. Also, you can raise and lower the foot and head

of the bed (during cold season this is great and for slow gastric

emptying issues a must)!!

Primary and medicaid have paid all costs,

Dawn
