Guest guest
You guys are my two favorite guys! I'm rooting for you, in your corner, ready to say my "hallelujahs" when you get to your goal. Ron, don't bum out about the Lasik too much. Hopefully, you'll get your water consumption up enough tat it will be safe to take it again...in the meantime, don't let the extra water weight get you depressed...by the same token..don't use the water weight as an excuse. You know, "Hmmmm, I ate two chocolate cakes, but I'm sure THAT'S not the reason I'm gaining...it's only water." I tend to do that sometimes. So, keep it all in balance, knowing that when you can take the pills again, you'll lose the extra water..and in the meantime, keep working hard at your weight...and you may find that you've dropped much more than you ever hoped, once you also drop the water weight. I'm sorry about the plantar fasciitis. I had it before, and my brother has it now...and it's painful. Do hot and cold compresses, one right after the other and then back again. It creates a vascular pump, and can help you get rid of pooled blood (which can turn to scar tissue) in your arch area. Do stretching exercises, particularly for your calves. make sure your shoes give you appropriate support. I'm sorry you are being challenged with all of these health issues. You will get through, and you will break through...and you will get there. , my darling...I'm so glad you are reaching out to Ron. Two guys, you can relate to one another, and you'll both overcome. You have a lot of stress in your life, and you're having to balance a lot of stuff. But these are life skills that you need to learn for yourslef, to protect yourself. Stuff like setting down boundaries, taking itme for yourself...making yourself a priority. And learning to find other things to comfort you, other things to help you handle frustration and anger and other negative feelings. I think you have what it takes. Both of you. I've had that feeling from the beginning, and it hasn't faltered. You are both gonig to get your ten percent off. I promise you. Be patient. Make a game plan. Aggressively do things to fulfill that game plan. I am in your corner. Robynn AndBBQ Man wrote: Oh, I'm not anywhere near giving up. Who could give up with all this wonderful support here? Yes, things are bad now, but hey... now, there's nowhere to go but up... (down?) As for my sister, she's doing great. She seems to be on a plateau right now, so she's starting a more rigorous exercise program. She's already eating as well as she can. She needs to get in more water too, but she's aware of it and trying. She's so close to that 100 pound mark (both in loss and the onederfuls). Ron Hi Ron How have you been doing lately? We haven't talked...but from what I have read of your posts it seems as though you and I share of lot of similarities. It seems as though our bodies are similar and, forgive me if I am wrong, but have had some setbacks on our way to the 10% goal.So I just thought I would check in with you and see how life is treating you.Donna JordonDSJordon@... Guest guest
Robynn, you're a good person to have in one's corner. You are right about the weight gain too. I won't be making any excuses. Most of my weight gain has been fluids, however, I have overeaten some too. Although calories are calories, I do pretty well at avoiding sweets. They were a major downfall for me over the years... especially chocolate. Once in a while, I still indulge in the latter, but I keep it in check. I do pretty well at accepting responsibility for what I put in my body... these days. I am rather worried about my weigh in on Thursday. Knowing that Vallejo had me down to 457 on 10/31 and then all the water weight and my own cheating.... It won't be pretty. But, I will persevere. No matter what, I WILL lose enough to satisfy Dr. Baggs and the rest of the Bariatric staff and get my surgery. I am currently looking for that to occur around Feb. or Mar. of next year. We'll see how I do over the holidays. I am actually a little afraid of how I'll handle them. I'm not quite as worried about Thanksgiving. I have that pretty much in check. But Christmas could be trouble. I have another month + to gear myself up for that. Anyway, thanks for your support Robynn. You and all the others in here have been a great help to me... and a lot of others. Keep on rooting us all on, and we'll be here for you too! Ron Re: Ron and You guys are my two favorite guys! Guest guest
Ron, it sounds like you are using thissit time to really learn valuable and important lessons (like accountability to one's self.) That's great. I mentioned in another post that I found a book called, "Losing the Last 30 lbs. The fundamentals of weight loss" by Terry Simpson, MD. It is originally designed for those of us who have had the surgery, and are now trying to get the last part of the excess weight off. But he says that the principles are great for anyone trying to lose weight. In addition to the book, he has a workbook to go along with it. I don't have it, but I'm going to get it. I didn't see the workbook on the website (bariatricadvantage.com)...but he mentions another website, Obesitydr.com, and it should be on that. Why don't the two of you get those publications, read them...compare notes...and do what it says. It's kind of like making a blueprint or a business plan. It wants you to do some math to find out how many calories you need to cut each day in order to lose a particular amount of weight in a particular period of time. One of the interesting comments in there...if you eat 96 extra calories a day (a big apple, a piece of toast,an ounce of cheese, cream in your coffee twice a day), you will gain 10 lbs in a year. In 10 years, you will be 100 lbs. overweight. 96 calories a day. That's nothing. That's slightly larger portion sizes. So, think about that when you want just an "extra" little nibble. I sure will!!! Good luck guys!! I think it's great that you've made a time goal, Ron. In order to lose one lb. a week, you need to cut back 500 calories a day from what you need to maintain your weight. You can do that through a combination of food reduction and exercise increase. If you exercise for 500 calories, and you cut 500 calories...that is 2 lbs. a week. The good news? The larger you are now, th emore calories it takes to maintain your current weight. So, you can even cut back more calories, and still be quite functional. But, if you do 2 lbs. a week...you should lose about 28 lbs. by the end of February. And clearly, you can lose even more if you cut back more calories than 500, and you exercise more than 500 calories worth. 500 calories isn't a lot. It's one extra enchilada, and one glass of milk and one small piece of chocolate in a day. RobynnBBQ Man wrote: Robynn, you're a good person to have in one's corner.
