Guest guest
Stef, I'm sorry you had problems. I can surely relate to the gas. " I am happy " describes it perfectly. So good to hear from you. Joan LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282pre-op/275surg/242/140 I am home I had LAP RNY on Tues. Everything went as planned until they removed the breathing tube. I guess I had a major amount of water around my lungs, make it hard to maintain a good oxygen level. They asked me to not take my water pills for 1 week prior to surgery so I would not be dehydrated. That plan fell through!! I stayed until Friday, my pain level is extremely low I haven't had pain meds since the first night. The gas is horrific. I Thought I was gonna have a heart attack. I am happy. I am getting my clear liquids in. No shakes until week 2. I hope all your holidays were great, I wish you all a great 2004. Guest guest
Breada & Donna: Thanks for your message. Checked in at Richmond at 11/14 7am and was checked out on 11/15 3:00pm. The professional staff at the hospital was great > Had some problems with the Nursing staff personal. Maybe it was just me - I do not know, but in some cases it was a nightmare. When I feel more up to it I will post about my experience so others who are waiting can anticipate some of the issues with Richmond staff. As of right now! The pain medication helps alot - and I take it on a regular basis 3-4 hours apart wheather I feel I need it or not. I am not sleeping in my bed. It was to difficult getting in and out. So I am on the reclainer which seems to be better for me. The bloating is very uncomfortable and I have not been able to release any on that end, only little burps ( my 3week old grand-daughter is a better at this then I am. My sister will be here today - and we can go on some walks to help me recover faster. In pain - going back downstairs to get some rest. Guest guest
Luci I am so glad you are on the other side. Do what your suppose to and I'm glad you sister is coming tomorrow. I understand about the Richmond Nursing, because my husband was there most all of the day with me they only came in my room if it was something they needed to chart, if I called for ice chips or any thing else they would never come or the wait was so long, that finally my husband just started going out getting the nurses or the ice chips himself. He had to leave that night due to his anxiety, he left at 7 pm and from that time on I only had a nurse come in my room once until midnight, from 7 pm until midnight I went out pushing my pole and got a nurse and said I need whatever and one was really a pissy nurse, but I do have to say once the midnight shift came on I was taken good care of. So there where good and bad nursing staff. The 8 am nurse was wonderful, I was suppose to go home at 11am discharge and they came in to release me at 10am and I hadn't even started to see if Jello or broth (stage 1 ) would work and they wanted me out, they needed the bed. The nurse was so mad, and said she's not leaving here until I know she can do stage 1. Not sure yet what happened to you, but I do understand. I hope this doesn't scare any one, but please if you can have someone with you at the hospital for as long as possible to help you will in your room. Luci you'll be happy you went through it, even with some nursing problems. You take care, looking forward to hearing from you. DonnaLucia wrote: Breada & Donna: Thanks for your message. Guest guest
--- Hi Luci, I am so glad you are doing well in spite of the bloating. I have a friend who had surgery at Richmond right after you did, and she said the staff was great except she had problems with the evening shift nurses. Last week when I had my surgery they were all good except a couple were not very informed about bariatric patients. I am still having bloating problems, but it is getting better. I am relieved that the surgery is over. Welcome home! Pam E. In gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients , " Lucia " wrote: > > Breada & Donna: Thanks for your message.
