Guest guest
I tried the tonic water since it contained quinine and it worked for me. My neurologist recommended it.See what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
So Rose, I'm allergice to plaquenil, does this mean I shouldn't have quinine?? I had a bad rash for a month from those pills. Which was sad, cause they did help me prior to that. BonnieBSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
Placquenil is the drug that contains quinine or a quinine derivative. Ramblin' Rose Moderator The average US Credit Score is 675. You may want to talk with the pharmacist and see if he has one that may have a different makeup.************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Bonnie, I read a couple of descriptions of Plaquenil which listed several drugs to avoid, including Tylenol. It didn't specifically list quinine, but I'm pretty sure they are related. There are several other ingredients (inactive) in Plaquenil; possibly you reacted to them. Here is the blurb to lists all of them. You might want to run it by your pharmacist (2nd choice MD). Each tablet, for oral administration, contains 200 mg of hydroxychloroquine sulfate (equivalent to 155 mg of base). In addition, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: dibasic calcium phosphate, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, pregelatinized starch, starch (corn) and titanium dioxide. Guest guest
Thanks Rose and Tracie and everyone, I went and got some tonic water with quinine and am hoping it works. I want be able to take the prescription kind if it has sulfur in it because I am allergic to sulfur drugs and it itches the mess out of me. I will keep drinking the quinine and take the potassium along with it. Thank for the help though. I am sure the cramps will subside once I get the prednisone out of my system completely. Guest guest
Thanks Rose, computer's been down so I'm slow getting back to you. I really did start to feel better on plaquenil too. Bummer... I actually started out on tonic water as my rheumo had instructed. However, my stomach did not like it. Just made me feel bad, not sick, so I stopped that. When the hives hit with the plaqueil, they had me making the rounds with both my primary and my rheumo checking me. I had the rash/hives for a whole month!!! Bonnie BSee what's free at AOL.com.
