It used to list them, now I've noticed, not specifically.  Maybe if you google it.

That is an excellent question. I have always been wary of the fact that they

don't list them exactly.

They used to list them and it did not say bifidus.  Then for some reason they stopped listing them so I've been a little wary also.  Since Fage Total was discovered around that time--it's so much better.  I only get Dannon because it's a lot easier to get.

I emailed Dannon and this is what I got. I will ask them for it in a letter:

I only asked about the plain Dannon regular fat, which is legal. I got

information about all the products, but note: they. are ILLEGAL. Bifidus is

illegal regardless of what they claim.

Thank you for contacting the Dannon Company, Inc. about live and active

cultures.

All Dannon products contain the two required cultures (Streptococcus

thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus). Most of our yogurts contain a third

culture, which is not required, Lactobacillus acidophilus. Dannon Activia

contains the culture Bifidus Regularis. Dannon DanActive contains the culture

L. casei Immunitas. Danimals Drinkables contain Lactobacillus GG or LGG. At

the current time, Dannon does not add any other cultures to our products.

Bifidus Regularis is the name of the natural probiotic culture in Activia that

has been scientifically proven to survive passage through the digestive system,

arriving into the large intestine as a live culture. Activia and Activia Light

are clinically proven to help with slow intestinal transit - the time it takes

food to pass through the digestive system. Each 4 oz. cup of Activia and

Activia Light contain billions of natural Bifidus Regularis cultures.

The L. casei Immunitas culture in DanActive is a proprietary strain that can

only be found in Dannon's DanActive and DanActive Light (Actimel outside the

United States). This specific strain was chosen for its probiotic

characteristics and its beneficial effect. Multiple clinical studies have proven

that DanActive and DanActive Light can help strengthen your body's defenses when

consumed as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

Lactobacillus GG or LGG in our Danimals Drinkables is proven to have favorable

effects on intestine and intestinal microflora, immune function, and maintenance

of oral health when consumed as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

In helping kids stay healthy and helping supporting the immune system, it is

also important that children get enough rest and sleep. It is recognized that

proper functioning of the digestive tract, intestinal microflora and immune

system helps kids stay healthy.

Yogurts with live and active cultures usually say so on the label, so look for

product labels stating " with active yogurt cultures " , " with living yogurt

cultures " or " contains active cultures " . Many yogurt products are marked with

the National Yogurt Association's Live and Active Cultures (LAC) seal. Most

DANNON products include this seal that identifies yogurts with significant

amounts (at least 100 million active cultures per gram at time of production and

with significant activity at the end of shelf life) of live and active cultures.

Once again, thank you for contacting Dannon. If you have any additional

questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at

1-877-DANNON-US (1-), Monday through Friday, 9 A.M. to 6 P.M.

Eastern Time.

Sincerely,

I need to clarify for newbies:

The Dannon is legal as a starter for making SCD yogurt only, not to be eaten.

The legal one is Dannon, plain, full fat, with nothing added. The other products

are not legal either as a starter or to eat.

Store bought yogurt has not been incubated sufficiently to remove the lactose.

The low fat yogurts often have additives to make it thick. You also can not take

these products and incubate them longer, they can only be used as starters.
