Guest guest
I just started the process, have a Nutritional Counseling meeting and a psyc evaluation early December, then PCP will refer me to the program officially. My question...I have seen posts from people who sounded like they completed the proces start to finish in 3 months...yet everything I am finding indicates more like a year in the process...any hypothesis...on....ideally...the PCP is pushing...the patient does their part etc... what is a realistic time frame to be looking at? Guest guest
Hi! I Just started the process formally in June 05 and I was approved on July 22, 05, Had my orientation on October 18, 05 and am currently waiting for my appt. to see the doctor. I am going on 6 months and from what I hear it is a process of about a year. I think it also depends to what facility you are being referred to. I am going to South San Francisco. I hope that this sheds some light on things. HOpe this helps. Oh by the way my 10% was completed at my surgeons appt. so that did not hold me up. Guest guest
I am also at SSF. I saw the doctor last month and went to my lifestyle classes. My surgeon appointment is mid December. That will be 7 months from my acceptance. If that helps. > I just started the process, have a Nutritional Counseling meeting and a > psyc evaluation early December, then PCP will refer me to the program > officially. Guest guest
My girlfriend and I started both last Dec. with the initial appts of psyc and nutrition. Then it took until May to get approved. But we both believe that has to do with you and pushing your dr on whether they have gottent he psyc and nutritionist evaluations back. Both of us went to the drs in May for unrelated stuff, and the dr then remembered about it, put it through to the approval board, and within 2 weeks we were accepted to the program. We both didn't get orientation until end of July beginning Aug. Then 1 more month to Nutrition, then 1 more month to Surgeon consult.... that's how it was for me through Richmond, 1 month intervals. SSF is where she is, and she had orientation and a lifestyle class same day as orientation, then had one on one nutrition appt, and then didn't have to loose 10% and just had to loose like 10lbs.. then she hit goal.. and now has surgeon consult early Dec. So that would be 1 year... a fast year though! Hope that helps.. good luck!! Guest guest
It all depends on where you're doing yours at. I saw my PCP in Oct. 2204,by Nov.the first week I had my letter, the 2nd week saw the dietation, psyc doctor, Nov. 16th I had orientation, I lost over 10% and did all the other stuff while losing the 10% then had surgery April 11th, I could of had surgery in March I put it off until April. So I did everything in 6 months. I think every one has different time lines, depending where it's being done, health issues, the 10% to lose. Good luck and take care. Guest guest
For me. I started in ez. Saw my PCP and did my dietician and psyc appts. in the end of April. and my PCP submitted my paperwork. In about a week 5/5/05, my PCP called me and said I was accepted. About 2 weeks after that I got my letter and got my orientation for 7/5/05. I had appts about a month apart from thereafter. Nutrition class on 8/2/05 - surgical consult 9/9/05 - two months until then next class on 11/8 and at that time I was at goal weight. I am now weighting for a surgery date so It will be about 5 months from first appt to surgery I hope... Best of luck to you! Guest guest
My time frame was similar to Donna's. I saw my PCP in the beginning of December, got my acceptance a week or two later...had my orientation at the end of January, and then my psych and dietician in February, surgeon's meeting in March...and then it took me until May to reach my goal weight. I was scheduled for surgery 11 days after I reached goal, and I had it on June 8th. So, it was about five and a half months from the point of acceptance into the program.
