Hi Barbara. How nice to hear from you. I am very discouraged today. I

had to go to Richmond to get weighed. I was still 9 lbs from goal. My

body is just holding water all the time. I can not let go of this

weight and just go down the scale. I have started to use Fit Day to

keep track of every calorie and every activity and every nutrient. It

is fun but it has not helped although I rarely eat 1200 calories a

day. I have a very slow metabolism and that may be my problem. I have

added about 5-10 minutes on to my exercise but so what? This is a

hard journey for me. The doctor warned me I might lose weight very

slowly after the operation too. Not positive thoughts today. Maybe

tomorrow. How are you doing? Love, Lilka

Hey Lilka,

Don't be discouraged. If you are only 9 lbs away, you know that you have come a long way. Perhaps you aren't eating enough? I have read on here from a lot of people that some of them NEED to eat the whole 1200 calories or they won't lose a thing. Perhaps try that. It's something right?

I am doing ok. I should be getting a surgery date on Friday, assuming I am under - I am really worried about that! Keep your fingers crossed!

Lilka...

If you lose weight slowly post surgery, your skin will have a greater chance to recover, and you are less like to have the hanging loose stuff...so that's a good thing, right?

The water is really really important if you are someone who tends to retain it. Drink until you can't drink anymore. And make sure that if you are using Fitday, you are completely honest with yourself about portion sizes...and that you write every little niblet down. Sometimes, we can be unconscious eaters...a nibble here or there when we cook...and while it may not be alot overall...it may still mean the difference between losing quickly or slowly.

Also, if you are losing weight slowly now...it will force you to take the time to really think about your behaviours, what you need to change, etc...and that will ultimately help you in the long run.

It's a great idea to add time to your workouts each day. You may want to even get in a morning walk AND an evening walk for a while, just to try and breakthrough to the other side, you know? Sometimes doing that will break me out of a rut. Finally, just keep at it. Some people have bodies that get ticked off when you try to reduce your calories...and it gets stubborn. But you can win!!!

Lilka, I am not sure why we have to experience the

things that we do but what I do know is that when we

pass through as situation such as what you are doing

with the slow weight loss, it strengthens us. I know

this is hard but you are not alone. Just continue to

press your way and you will get there. Not always do

things happen when we want them to but remember there

is always a devine purpose for all of us and a devine

purpose for things to happen as they do. Just try to

stay focused and NEVER give up hope. You will get

there.
