Hi Michele,

My impression is that while DSers don't have dumping (which only lasts for

about 30 months for RNYers) I think that the real issue is absorption and

indications are that we absorb 100% of simple sugars, which to me means once

it's absorbed it can be a problem for DSers as well as RNYers. I mean for

regain.

Okay, why would someone cut and paste if they can refer people directly

to this site? And who said you are a failure? If you are a failure

because you occasionally slip, then we all probably fall into that

category? I personally have referred people considering any wls to come

to this site because it has wonderful information on how hard it is to

make any surgery work. I don't see any of us as failures. Now if we

didn't come here and get support and continued in our downward spiral,

that could be a problem. I am hoping I misread the last part of your

email.

Have no idea who did it, but apparently last October and November when I

decided I wanted to lose the 8 lbs. I had regained (okay, I was obsessing

about how much I *hated* having to work at anything), someone cut and pasted

parts of my post to a predominantly RNY list to prove that DS surgery

patients have regain problems and that the surgery can fail. I never have

any problem with someone forwarding my posts - just doing it in a way that

misrepresents the reality.

So yeah, I do obsess from time to time about this 8 lbs., but in no way,

shape or form, could I call my experience anything but a remarkable success!!

There is definitely a contingent hell bent on proving the RNY is a better

surgery than the DS (and vice versa for that matter). For me, I recommend

them both!

Gee Kate I thought I was the only one who could eat that much now

granted not all at one time but on the course of one day hell ya!

My favorite is Hershey chocolate bars I could inhale them. Oh and

don't forget the M & M's plain of course, knows what I am

talking about. I do however have mechanical problems that let me do

this because I am proximal and would dump if the food wasn't going

into my old bypassesd stomach and I am transected too so this is not

a sld. I feel all alone because I only know one or two others with

a gastro gastric fistula. I am finding that I am taking my anger

out on myself anyone else do that or am I the only sick one? I have

to find healthier ways to vent my anger but eating works for now. I

have given myself the permission to go on never ending last suppers

until I have surgery. I guess cause I never got to have them 4

years ago I am doing it now. I actually had to loose weight to have

surgery because I wanted it done lap and was told if I was over 350

I couldn't have it done. I am finding I eat due to fear, anxiety,

and anger. My surgery even though I don't have an exact date set is

only 2 months away and I am really scared. I don't know why but the

fact that I have to start all over again in a way and the incision

is going to be huge and I can't do hardly anything for 6-8 weeks.

See I don't know what its like to deal with a huge incision because

all of mine were done lap I know I mentioned this before except the

spleen but that was a little open incision compared to what's going

to be done.

I will all let you know the date of my fistula repair possible

revision? as soon as I get it set hopefully sometime towards the end

of May. Like to do it one day after my 4 year anniversary.

I do declare. People will use anything to prove their point. I

personally support any one in their decision for any wls as long as they

have done their research and they are doing it for the right reasons. Oh

Now, you see why TV news is not real. They can cut and paste to prove any

point of view. That is why our own research is so important. When I read

the AMOS board and they say no one told me, I feel sad for the poster.

That is why I like a good controversy on this board. You get to hear all you

need to about lightbulbs so that you can seriously do more research to form a

bit of an opinion.

You'd have to score me as a failure, too, then. Regain twice. Peeps #1

(sober 3 yrs now), and fruit, which was none too good in itself, but set me

off on a carb rampage that I had to wrestle to the ground.

I have yet to meet a perfect one of us, you know? I can define imperfect by
