Guest guest
Ok Im really discouraged here. I have gotten back into weighing daily. There are two groups of thoughts here: one thought is daily weighing helps keep you on track, the other says it causes you to obsess. Both apply to me. But heres the thing. Ive been following my program soooo closely. I have been exercising(one hour yesterday!), NO STARBUCKS, staying under 1000 calories, doing protein shakes( no more than two a day, sometimes none, just the protein from food) when the cravings are bad. I saw a weight of 157 on Wednesday. But this morning when I weighed in it said 160 again!! Now I know I couldnt have gained 3 pounds in one day!! But yet now I feel why struggle so hard, why give up the things I love if its not going to work!!! My typical day is: Breakfast: protein bar 23 g 230 cal MidAM: HM latte(approx 90 cal) or decaf coffee (approx 40 cal) Lunch: Hardboiled egg, string cheese and yogurt OR tuna salad with egg and 5 club crackers OR tossed salad with garbanzos, egg, cheese, beets. MIDPM: if Im hungry its a protein shake(130 cal) Dinner: protein(fish, chicken or beef) and veggies like broccoli PM Snack: either decaf coffee or a hot whey chocolate protein So whats going on!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
No it doesn't. Incidently, you are NOT a hunk of metal, which has a constant weight. Your weight is going to constantly fluctuate. Even if it were possible to perfectly balance calories taken in with calaries burned (It's not!) the biomechanical systems will still have an effect on your day-to-day weight. A three pound fluctuation is a perfectly normal deviation. Water weighs a pound a pint. If you're even slightly dehydrated, (a favorite ploy of us trying to fool ourselves into believing the numbers are " better " than they really are) you can easily absorb that, as your tissues rehydrate. The numbers reported by that " hunkametal " are neither good nor bad. They simply are what they are. Try to observe them without judging them or yourself. They are just another tool, for monitoring your journey. I also weighed myself dauly for a while, until it became obcessive for me too. I do it weekly now, and that's good enough. Guest guest
, The Scale is Big Magic. Overuse of The Scale will get to you and mess with your head; you must use the power of the scale sparingly. If using The Scale at some particular interval (e.g., once a week) is too hard, maybe for a while you could give your scale to someone else and only let that person weigh you and tell you the #. But see: It ruined your day, which was going pretty well. Argh! Don't give up--just go on from here! Martha
Guest guest
You are doing every thing right, I do the same thing. I only weigh once sometimes twice a week but my weight when I was 143 stayed for 3 weeks, then dropped to 142, then back to 143, then down to 141, then 140, back to 141, back to 140 where I've been for over a week, this is normal for your body even when you do every thing right. The lower you get in weight you're body is trying to keep fat, it gets thinking your starving when you're not. Keep on track I promise it will all work out, as long as you're being honest with yourself that your doing things right. Don't give in to the numbers on the scale and fall off track because they will really go up. You stay on track it will be worth it. Donna Diane Duenas wrote: Ok Im really discouraged here.
