I have been a member of this list since at least Nov. 1999. I do not

post often and just keep to myself. Those that are long term here

know of my complications after my DS March 2000.

has done a FANTASTIC job with the board and the DS website.

It has always been a place for me to call home, however, all of the

talk about politics and healthcare reform do not belong here. ly

it is not useful information for those pre or post op.

I suggest that you start a new group aimed at polictics, treatment of

MO and healthcare reform. This in my opinion is just not the place.

Keep up the good work .

Amie -

You are right on as to the information on healthcare reform not being

helpful to postops and preops who are approved. However, for those who are

disapproved, the issue is their issue. Do you want to keep it under wraps

just because you are postop? If legislation provides them with options that

will lead to approval, it is very much in their interest.

This is somewhat like moving into a quiet area and not wanting others to

build houses nearby because it will interfere with your quiet lifstyle.

This group is to discuss the DS. If we can't get the DS because there is no

legislation to require insurance to approve it in appropriate situations,

there is no DS to discuss. Just because a particular issue doesn't affect

you doesn't mean that it is not relevant to the lives of others.

I would hope that preops and postops would recognize the need to require

HMOs and insurers to provide services and help those who have not been

approved in their quest to secure that approval. The political process is

probably the only way to accomplish this.

Nick,

My surgery was approved by my primary carrier Aetna, under POS. But

my secondary coverage Pacificare denied. I did have to go through the

appeal process. I would have done whatever it took to get 100%

approval.

This is just not the place for this kind of debate and frankly I am

tired of reading the same thing. Again I suggest a board dedicated to

those political issues.

Maybe you could even set up and be the list owner of such a board.

You can then have your own list rules.

Please let do what she is suppose to do and conform to the

list rules we all agreed to when joining this board.

Enough already.

Hey Nick!

I don't know if you're aware but there are two insurance lists. One

can usually find very useful advice and suggestions on one or

the other. In addition, Walter Lindstrom somethimes answers on

the one that I belong to which is extremely helpful.

But, there's another group that needs people like you. It's called,

< >

Right now the group is not very active but that can change

quickly. If people like yourself join and post, I think the current

members will wake up.

Amie-

I know what you're talking about with the secondary because mine is BC.

That is precisely the reason that I am concerned about this. If you are

financially able to handle the secondary denying you, fantastic. I am not

and so I am very concerned. This is a perfect place to deal with the issue.

If you want to set up a board of your own relating to the subject, I might

join you there, too.
