Hi Dan- Welcome home and congrats. I too feel that you had the best surgeon.

I adore Dr. Herron and he is compassionate and just plain wonderful. If you

E-Mail him he gets back to you the same day and his PA Diane is wonderful.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Ellen(Pam

Hello all,

Had my surgery with The great Dr. Herron at Mt. Sinai June 26.

Overall healthy but 375 lbs, BMI 54. Dr Herron started my surgery

Lap, but mid surgery decided it was to risky and swithched to OPEN.

He made a very small open incesion, and told me it should heal about

the same as the lap openings. My wife was a total wreck as the

surgery was almost EIGHT HOURS, including a tough gall bladder

removal.

Not a picnic, but each day a little stronger. I was lucky I could

afford companions for most of my stay. I was on 9 east, and my

opinion is that the nursing staff was just fine! That is not an easy

job, but they were there when I needed them, thou you do need to be

self assertive, but kind and not mean and demanding.

I came home today Saturday, and have a little discomfort and a little

neausus....staying hydrated, nibiling a cracker and enjoying my

family and home.

Dr Herron did tell be BPD/DS is a tougher operation for men. He did

tell me he might not be able to do it Lap.....just amazing he had the

skill and honor to hang in there for me for Eight Hours! HE TOLD MY

WIFE elyse, that HIS back hurt like hell after!

Bottom line?

My quality and length of life will be better. My advice, do your

homework, be strong, and GO FOR IT!!!

Dan, did they say woman were easier because we are made to stretch

for childbirth.I had lap for my gall bladder removal and it was

easier than going to the dentist. I have five children and the last

pregnancy I had fifteen pounds of twins in me. I bet that is part of

the reason.

Congrats Dan

I had my surgery with Dr Herron on June 12th and I was on 9 east also. I had a good experience with the nurses also. Dr Herron was great.
