Guest guest
Hi All, i was just wondering if there seems to be a certain period of time between relapses with sarcoidosis? I had one which seem to be about 4 months so i am wondering if i can expect the same again. Thanks
Guest guest
Hi , I get the sense that everyone is different. Thank goodness that my major flares (paralysis or impairment of major function) only occur every few years. When they do hit, they seem to take anywhere from 3 months to a year to subside. There are minor flares in between. By minor, I mean the annoying stuff that you learn to live with after a while like numb fingers, burning eyes, granulomas on the skin, etc. The biggest problem is the scarring that each episode leaves behind. Over periods of time, the scarring reaches the level of permanent impairment, or at least that's my understanding. From what I've read & what the docs tell me, the key is minimizing the relapses, both in frequency & severity. Stress is a huge contributor. The recent passing of a very close family member trigger my last major flare, my divorce trigger the one before that, and having to lay folks off at work the one before that. It is my personal belief that anything you can do to relieve stress will increase the time between flares. I hope this helps. I had 2 relapses that I know of. One of the problems is that a relapse can be so mild that it can take months before you are ware of it. With my latest relapse, the only ndication was slightly slirred speach. Other symtems like pain and dizzyness when I sit up appeared later. The time between relapses seems to be random the first was after 2 years the next was a year later. My moter skills have not returned but some of the other symtoms have subsided. I doupt this helps but I wish you luck and hope to hear frm you soon. kathy
