A little levity regarding memory issues

An older couple had become quite forgetful so they went to the doctor

to get checked out to be sure there wasn't a medical problem causing

their forgetfulness. The doctor told the couple there wasn't anything

wrong with them and that being forgetful just comes with age. He

suggested that they write everything down and then they could look at

the sheet of paper to see what they were going to do for the day.

One night the couple was watching t.v. when the husband got up from

his chair. The wife ask him where he was going. He told her that he

was going to the kitchen so the wife said " Will you bring me some ice

cream? " . The husband told her he would. She then asked, " Don't you

need to write that down? " The husband told her no that he felt sure

he could remember ice cream. The wife then asked, " Will you put some

strawberries on that ice cream? " He husband said that he would put

strawberries on her ice cream. The wife asked again if the husband

didn't need to write that down. He told her no that he felt sure that

he could remember ice cream with strawberries on top. The wife then

asked, " Will you put some whipped cream on top of the strawberries? "

The husband said that he would put the whipped cream on top of the

strawberries. Again, the wife asked if the husband didn't need to

write that down. By that time the husband had become quite aggravated

with the wife and told her firmly that he could remember ice cream

with strawberries and whipped cream.

The husband went on to the kitchen and was gone for about twenty

minutes. When he came back to the wife he brought her a plate with

bacon and eggs on it. To this the wife told the husband " See I knew

you would mess this up. You forgot the toast! " ..
