Guest guest
Hi All, so I have been using whole foods 365 almond butter...the ingredients say " dry-roasted almonds. " It occurred to me that maybe it is not legal because of the dry-roasted part..does anyone know for sure if it is okay and if not, what do you recommend? Thank you!! Guest guest
Hey Zellman, I'm afraid I don't have a good answer for you. We use Marantha, their ingredients say " Raw Almonds. " I purchased some almonds once and tried to make my own butter, but it ended up more like marzipan. I was still able to use it in recipes and what now, but not the same. Even adding oil didn't solve it, seemed like my almonds soaked up the oil. Have you tried making it yourself from raw almonds? Some people do it in a blender, Vitamix, or food processor with the S blade. jonathan > > Hi All, > so I have been using whole foods 365 almond butter...the ingredients say " dry-roasted almonds. Guest guest
I tried the Whole Foods 365 Roasted and it just didn't agree with me. That's not saying that it is not legal though, I now use the Marantha Raw Natural Almond butter also. It tastes much better, too. However, it is twice the price of the 365 Brand! Guest guest
Yeah - they are SCD. Roasted is okay for nut butters though it is not okay for whole nuts. The reason is that when making butters, the nuts would be roasted and then made into butter immediately, not sprayed with preservatives afterwards, the way that whole roasted nuts would be. TJs also has almond butter - but costco is now carrying a big container of maranatha (the non-organic kind) very inexpensively.
