Guest guest
So what do people on the yeast protocol eat for snacks? So far, all I can think of is guacamole and salad. I guess celery and carrot sticks, too! Mara

Guest guest
Sorry, one more Q, you say cheese, are you able to eat hard cheeses? Pecan butter ok, but other nut butters not? (I crave them so, a girl's gotta have some flavor in her life..) Thanks again, Lilian > anything minus honey and flavor lol -it was tough at first - i don't think about it now - i was able to add cooked berries though so i top my lame cheesecake with that and yogurt -avoc with salt, pecan butter or cheese for a quicky - I eat mostly meals i guess- not really snacks oh and i pick at my dccc bread ( 2 farmers cheese apx 1/2 cup pecan meal 2 eggs van cinn - baked on parchment for apx 40 min)that is also my breakfast and of course plain yog > eileen 2 years scd > > > > > So what do people on the yeast protocol eat for snacks? > > > > So far, all I can think of is guacamole and salad. I guess celeryand carrot sticks, too! & n! bsp;Can you have nuts/nut butters on the yeast protocol? It's supposed to be eliminated/limited. This is why it is so hard - no cheese, very limited nuts and fruit, no vinegar or verylimited - very limited or no honey. I just made a big pot of soup and a chickenand guac. And I think tomorrow I will make a big frittata and eat that in portionsfor a few days. Mostly it is protein and veggies. I dream of the day when I could eat something like ants on a log!!! Of course, your log couldn't have any ants...unless you used little tiny pieces of beef or something, but I think that would be weird =)LOL! I have no idea what that is - but it doesn't sound appetizing, not being a birdor a monkey! <vbg>Mara

One celery stick, fill the groove with peanut butter, top with raisins (the ants). Surprisingly delicious! Too bad no nuts for you though =( Yeast stinks. But fruit is supposed to be very limited -on Elaine's strt with a few small portions of cooked fruit - on another one,3 small servings a day. She limits/eliminates nuts. And honey is right out. So all that stuff above is not on the yeast diet. Mara

Guest guest
Heh, today I made broccoli for snacks!!! Yum! Can't wait till I can have broccoli. Can you make a ranch dressing type dip that's okay for yeast? Then you could just have that and raw veggies. Can you make a ranch dressing type dip that's okay for yeast? Then you could just have that and raw vegg! ies. Um, no vinegar. So I doubt it. What else is in it? I forget. (Havenever made it.) Since I am also doing no to extremely low salt for my sinus thingy, imagine mayonnaise with no salt and no vinegar. Just a little bitlacking, there! Oh well, I'll just add in lots of lemon and garlic. I can however eat butter - and I bought this reallyyummy Icelandic butter that is just delicious. So I can put abutter and lemon sauce on some of the broccoli. And eat the restplain, I guess. Actually, this yeast diet seems like it will be really effective inhelping me to lose the weight I gained back over the lastyear - so bonus! Need to go back and read the yeast protocol again, but dripped yogurt, onion, garlic, parsley, chives, white pepper, and salt makes really fine ranch dressing. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

I guess that's essentially a butter and lemon sauce though.I thought of another possible snack. My mom used to take an avocado and mash it up with some salsa and use it as a dip for chips. It was really good! Maybe you could use SCD salsa and use kale chips or something. Assuming tomatoes are okay on the yeast diet... Guest guest
Oh yeah, I love hollandaise sauce - posted the recipe before you were on the list. It's like a savory version of lemon curd. I had kale chips for a snack over the weekend. They were great - I make a garlic, cayenne, lemon olive oil version. Thanks for the ideas. It was a salad dressing made with avocado, because the lady was allergic to oils. She simply mashed the avocado, added wine vinegar or ACV, lemon juice, salt, pepper. It was delicious! You could make it thicker and dip veggies in it.
