Guest guest
in my case, i am going 650 miles from home for surgery. i don't anticipate flying back to the surgeon for follow-ups. i will ask the surgeon if he will give me a list of tests, and questions to have my pcp near my home ask me to make sure i am doing ok. then she will fax the results to the surgeon, and perhaps we can have a follow-up visit over the phone if he wants to speak directly to me. mary y st.louis > I am having surgery with DR Gagner on Tuesday. Guest guest
mary, thats what we did......we drove 450 miles or so to Portland, Oregon and we found out that Dr Welker trained our pcp in medical school so they just kept in touch with each other over our care here at home. Results are faxed to him when they arrive and he tells our pcp what to do if there is a problem. Dr Welker also emails his patients when needed. Guest guest
i'm glad it's feasible to have " long distance " follow ups, cause i would never be able to afford all that traveling! mary y > > > I am having surgery with DR Gagner on Tuesday. Guest guest
its not just affording all that travel but the time involved. Takes us almost eight hours to get to Seattle then another 3 hours to Eugene. Flying is out as its rather expensive unless we drive 4 hours to Spokane and fly from there. Thank goodness for the internet and telephone!
