Guest guest
Guess what?? I might not actually have osteoporosis!! I went to a new endocrinologist today, and she said that sometimes when bone density scans are done on young people, they don't take into account that our bones might just be SMALLER than the average bone, since we're not full grown yet. The scan sends x-ray beams through your bones and measures how much comes out the other side to determine bone density, but a small bone would let more past than a large bone no matter HOW dense it was. So she has to double check everything, and I may have to get a new bone scan done. So I'm hopeful, but trying not to get too excited because I may still very well have osteoporosis. Anyways. I'll let you guys know what I find out! Peace =) Alyssa 15 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008 SCD June 2009 (restarted) Chinese Herbs (not legal but helping!) Guest guest
Hurray Alyssa!!! That sounds like great news. I really hope you can get some closure in this scenario, and of course I hope its the kind where you don't have osteo. It's funny, I'm almost thirty, have had Crohn's for 16 years, and this past year, hair started growing on my knee caps, like I was finalyl catching up with all the growing I missed out on as a 15 and 16 year old. Even my wife noticed it. Maybe it's sort of in teh same boat? Still, great news, and keep us up to date!! Just lovely! jonathan > > Guess what??
