Guest guest
I am sure that the > ASBS would not be opposed to us voicing our concerns to our > senators and members of Congress. > > Best- > > Nick in Sage who now only briefly comes up for air . . . > Nick; One of the nice things about these OSSG/WLS Yahoo groups is that there is a group for just about every occasion. There are ones for WLS-Insurance problems, for exercising pre & post surgery, for post-surgery recipes, for problems post surgery, and oh yes! there's ones specifically for Legislation. It's Called < >. The point is, each group does not necessarily have to be about every pertinent issue. I tried to post a very important insurance message on the open OSSG list and within 48 hours of posting it, I got a private email from the list owner telling me that it had been disallowed because the scope of the open group did not include insurance! How weird is that, huh? That totally amazed me that the open group does not allow insurance issues but the list owner has a clear idea about what they want to focus on and obviously, it is more narrow than I would pick. I got a nice note referring me to one of the insurance groups. My point is, the list owners have every right to decide what they want a particular group to be about - period. However, I think that one will always be able to refer folks over to the legislation group. That would be an ideal place to have the political discussions you would like to engage in. People over there will be on the same page so to speak because they are all there to try to effect change in the laws. You won't be reading any " Conga-rats " , or about swinging chickens over there. Polictical discussion of this type does not promote a pro-active spirit on a general list whereas the legislation group can be very pro-active. It hasn't been very active in a long time so it will take getting folks to join it but I'm a member too and would love to see this happen. In other words, I'm in your corner on this, I just think it needs to be moved to another forum. gobo
