You know the problem with that? YOu must be 100 lbs overweight to get wls.

So if you lose weight and are under that, they won't let you get it. I know

this because many years ago I lost 120 lbs on Atkins. I wanted to get wls

then to stop myself from gaining it back (which I did) and they said " NO, you

must be 100 lbs over weight " . Carole

I guess the 'need be' part of my post meant I was pretty sure the

weight would come back and I would maybe NEED the DS.

Is it just me, or is this just a little insane? Why would anybody have one

WLS, *intending* to fail, then plan a second one? I'm a revisional

patient...I sure didn't plan it that way. And I'm here to tell you it's not

the way to go if you have a choice. We revisional patients usually don't

have the option of a lap surgery; we have much increased odds of

complications; And....our weight loss is slower. Mine certainly has been.

I'm happy and eternally grateful, but please please please.....do it right

the first time, okay?

Failed VBG 1986

I've met several who had VBG's that have failed. A gal in my support group had one a year ago and has lost 120 lbs. She made the comment if she "had known how hard it was". While I know the surgery is only a tool, I also don't want to struggle every day and I think the DS will provide that. It will give me the inability to eat the volume I do now, and when I can eat more or eat wrong, some help in not absorbing it all. I do intend to change my habits but its nice to know that I'll be allowed to eat pretty normal and as normal sized or as I like to put it, average sized people do.

Michele...what do you think failed with that surgery? I'm not real familiar with the way that one works. ~~* AJ *~~

BMI 59

Well, if you're willing to help pay for the 'do it right the first

time' that's fine and dandy!

ly, my health is deteriorating every day and getting some weight

off now is becoming more and more imperative. I don't feel I have

time to wait hoping that BC/BS will come to their senses...
