But, for me, in week 6 post-op, it was like somebody threw a switch one day, and I felt like a real person again and not a recuperating surgical case. Since then, I have had a few minor things here and there along the way, but, basically, I have felt strong and " among the living " once again. Guest guest Posted July 2, 2001 Report Share Posted July 2, 2001 , Sometimes it takes awhile for your new tummy to settle down. I learned that some have extra sensitive stomach receptors so it takes them a little longer to recover from the nausea. You MUST try and try again to get liquids down and keep something in your stomach all the time. When you get up in the middle of the night eat something no matter how small it might be and only eat those things that appeal to you right now. Forget the protein for now.....if it appeals to you, fine....eat it.....otherwise dont worry about it and just eat whatever appeals to you at the moment. Get lots of rest too becuz you need it!
