Guest guest
I am going to the rheumatologist today. Something on my last bloodwork at my PCP was unusual. (Of course, can't remember what it was!) Maybe that's why I have been feeling crappier than usual lately. I am very interested in what he has to say. Will keep you posted. Debbie T. Co-Moderator Now that's room service! Guest guest
Okay, Debbie. Hope it's nothing serious, or maybe worse one of those things "you can't do anything about." I hate hearing that. Guest guest
What are the benefits of seeing a rheumatologist? I asked my doctor if I should see one and he said he would not do anything different than I am doing.I see a pulmonologist at University of Michigan. He specialises in sacroidosis. I have it in my brain and cervical spine now too. I made an appointment with a neurologist and he said he has never seen neurosarcoidosis before and really did not know how to treat it. At least my pulmonologist has treated the sarcoid before. Should I be seeing someone else. > > I am going to the rheumatologist today. Something on my last bloodwork at my PCP was unusual. Guest guest
What are the benefits of seeing a rheumatologist Many rheumi's are also immunologists. They see all the inflamatory diseases, the arthritis's- the Lupus, the MS, the osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and the other 200+ types of arthritis. Systemic inflammation is what they specialize in. They are more versed in treatment with alternatives to prednisones-- and will have knowledge in the ANA (anti-nuclear antibodies) and TNF (tumor necrosing factors) that seem to be part of sarcoidosis. For me, it was the best choice beyond my pulmonologist-- who wanted to go to the side of conservative treatment-- which is prednisone. Guest guest
Just my two cents worth; a lot of rheumy's also do chronic pain management and can deal with issues of chronic pain.
