Guest guest
Ya, it might be worth passing it by your doc in conversation. bye, Joni Holycross wrote: Hi , That's pretty much how Collin describes it. It's debilitating(sp?) and stops me in my tracks for a few moments but then gradually the sensation goes away. When I try to explain it to someone who's just witnessed the grimace on my face, they don't seem to relate. I've never done anything about it and I guess just assumed it's something like hitting your funny bone or a charlie horse or somethin'. Maybe it's not?? Collin occasionally complains of something "popping" in his head. It happened earlier today while playing. It is very brief, and followed by a sharp burning sensation, then goes away. It just suddenly pops, lasts a few minutes, then goes away. I don't want to make something out of it if it isn't anything serious because there is certainly enough serious to deal with. However, he has had neurological involvement in the past, such as lesions and atrophy of the cerebellum. Has anyone dealt with this? He doesn't have a neuro appt. scheduled at this time, so I'm wondering if I should call or just wait until he has an appt. Guest guest
We haven't known of any CO2 level issues but she definitely has had O2 issues. She has a tracheal ring that is not wrapped around the trachea but leaning against it. It, we believe, has caused a lot of pulse-ox drops along with apnea in the past. She is much better lately in this area though. During viral attacks we will get drops but most of the other times we do not. She had tracheomalacia as well early on in life but were told it probably would fix itself so this may be another reason she is getting better in this area. I really believe seizure activity is the correct problem rather than sleep walking, but just wanted to check others' experience to see if others have seen behavior like this actually due to sleep walking. Guest guest
Hi Darla, It does sound a lot like the partial complex seizures that the tech explained to me. We have not dealt with seizures other than possibly this with Collin being partial complex syndrome. Since he had known CO2 and O2 problems, that seems to be more related for him. Guest guest
We have had some dumping issues that caused sweating episodes (that has been explained to me as being a result of fluxuating sugar levels) but other than that we haven't noticed anything with sugar drops. Each time we have ever checked her levels they have always been fine. We still believe seizure activity is probably the correct diagnosis, but haven't seen any further problems since so hopefully it was just a bad day. Guest guest
It's encouraging that it was isolated at this point. I've learned with mito that sometimes there are just oddly occurring things that come up that don't even have an explanation or reason, they just happen. You are amazing Darla! What is dumping syndrome? We have suspected that Collin has blood sugar issues, but it seems different than outright diabetes. I have seen alot of kids on this site with dumping syndrome, but don't really know what it is. I didn't know it was related to blood sugar issues. Thanks, JoniDarla Klein wrote: We have had some dumping issues that caused sweating episodes (that has been explained to me as being a result of fluxuating sugar levels) but other than that we haven't noticed anything with sugar drops. Guest guest
Thanks for the well wishes! My husband brought Chinese dinner home and of course- a chocolate cake! I really love birthday cake. Can you tell? also made a cake for me, in true 11 yr. old style. I had a ton of clean up, but it was too cute watching her. I had forgotten it was my birthday today until a few days ago. I thought my hubby forgot too, but that's what he wanted me to think, since he usually does. Happy Day Asenath! JoniDarla Klein wrote: Happy Birthday Joni!
