Guest guest
Hi everybody, Well, as my day is drawing near, I have two things I would like to ask of you, please. First of all, I need an angel. Any takers? I will be so grateful to anyone who is interested. Secondly, I need your input about something. I have already gone through the stages of being terrified, of being afraid of dying on the table, of being afraid of complications during surgery, etc. Those stages have passed (for the MOST part, anyway!!) now, and the next stage has set in. Now I am starting to be afraid of having something terrible happen AFTER the surgery, like three months down the line developing a pulmonary embolism (this one has been a REAL scary thing for me!!) or some sort of blockage, etc. I realize that I'm being paranoid, but I also realize that these things can and do happen. So, I guess what I am asking you for is for help in putting these "new" fears in perspective. I want so badly to get RID of this weight and look forward to my new and healthy lifestyle. I look at my three daughters, ages 6, 3 1/2, and 21 months, and I know I have EVERY reason to do this. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Guest guest
Dear Pam, I don't know what an angel exactly does, or if there are any special qualifications needed (e.g. does an "angel" have to be post-op?), but if you want me you got me! Those experienced angels out there, let me know what to do! As for your fears: if you didn't have them you wouldn't be the intelligent and thinking person you obviously are! Of course, you know all the risks, and your conscious mind keeps playing them over and over. I don't know if you subscribe to any form of spirituality or religion, but what I would say is now sounds like a good time to put all your fears in the hands of a Higher Power. I don't mean by that not to "feel" them. Obviously, you're going to be scared: it's normal. But there does come a point when we've done all that is humanly possible to make sure our surgery is going to be safe, we've educated ourselves, asked all the questions, make the heartfelt decision that this surgery was the right and correct path for us to take, and we have to make that leap of faith. It's no guarantee that things won't go wrong, but that we have hope that all will be well. One of my favorite spiritual quotes is from n of Norwich, 14th century English mystic, who said, "All will be well, and all will be well, and thou shalt see it thyself, that all manner of thing shall be well." I know I have tons of fears. You WILL get to the other side. I'll email you my phone number privately if you want to talk. With love and healing prayers, Robyn Two requests, please Hi everybody, Well, as my day is drawing near, I have two things I would like to ask of you, please. First of all, I need an angel. Pam, I'd be happy to keep in touch by phone and to post for you, but I just returned to work after my own recuperation, and I live and work in Northern Virginia, so I would not be able to visit you in the hospital. If you do not get any nearby takers, drop me a line with details. July 9th is also the date of Gobo's DS in Oregon. Good luck, Steve --
