Of course the cocktail is different for everybody. Many children are on a number of other medications for secondary problems associated with mito.

We figured our daughter's prescriptions would cost well over 1,000 US dollars a month. Thankfully we also have prescription coverage. The only medications we pay for out of pocket are her CoQ10 which runs about $25 a month and her Melatonin which is only a few dollars at Wal Mart.

Grace is on a number of medications (for secondary disorders), the majority of the expense is on these medications.

Thank God for insurance.

I realise its probably a bit different up here in Canada, but i

figured i could get a rough idea of the cost of the cocktail... I

have no idea but i noticed coQ10 at the health food store was

PRICEY!

Were lucky enough to have perscription coverage through our extra

insurance, but im curious as to how much the coctail costs on a

monthly basis...

anyone?

Hi - we just use CoQ10 and Carnetine....the Carnetine is very expensive, $30 month and that is our insurance copay - I think without the ins. the cost is $120/mo., that is 2 tsp/ day , and we have the CoQ10 compounded and dose is 1 tsp/day or 120 mg. and that costs us $34/ month but no insurance coverage on that. Hope this helps...

Check out www.epic4health.com -- they offer discounts to mito patients.

I think a bottle of liquid CoQ10 is discounted to $45!

Our son takes a " mito cocktail. " We live in Vermont and

thankfully have good insurance. He takes

CoQ 10 for $90.00 per month

Riboflavin $ 8.00 per month

Thiamin $ 8.00 per month

NADH topical $80.00 per month

This is actual cost before insurance. does not take the creatin

(not sure of the spelling) that some children take. I would be

interested to know of any other medications that children take for

this disorder. I hope this helps!

Asenath takes: Carnitor $92

COQ10 (liquid) $130

B2 $8.50

Vit. E (liquid) $90

plus a bunch of other meds for different condition

(Topamax, Prednisolone, aspirin, Analapril Maleate,

Lansoprazole, Cytra 3)

Zipporrah takes: Carnitor and COQ10 thus far plus Imodium and Ferrous

Sulfate liquid Infant drops.

Asenath's is 100% covered now due to her Brain Injury Waiver (medicaid) and

Insurance and Zipporrah's is partially paid by insurance at this point.

Before medicaid it was very expensive even after insurance. If you aren't

on a waiver program I highly recommend you try to get on one.
