Guest guest
I have strep throat AGAIN. I think this is the 4th or 5th time since i've had UC which is a little over a year. Now i'm going to have to take antibiotics which sucks, but what ya gonna do. I hate being in a down, but when i'm in an UP the future looks awfully bright! Anyone else seem to get more colds and things since being on SCD or getting UC or Crohns?-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 7 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 5 pills a day Hotmail: Free, trusted and rich email service. Anyone else seem to get more colds and things since being on SCD or getting UC or Crohns?I've gotten strep I think twice since UC, and I'd only gotten it once in the previous 14 years of my life. I got antibiotic shots though, so at least it wasn't oral. Maybe you could do the same. You have to get them in your butt, one in each side, and I had to get them two different times, but it was still worth it to not have to orally take antibiotics. Your butt WILL be sore though =) Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Chinese Herbs (not legal but helping!) Guest guest
the immune system comes primarily from the gut so it makes sense while you're sick -but as you heal you should get sick less - i see/feel a change - I can fight stuff out now eileen 2 years scd > > > I have strep throat AGAIN. Guest guest
,It means you are a bit immuno compromised and it's expressing itselfin a different part of your body. No doubt you are hardily sick of us telling you this <g>, but this is the kind of thingthat LDN would help with a lot. MaraI have strep throat AGAIN. Guest guest
I'd say it is "normal" to have more viral and bacterial infections while you're dealing with UC or another IBD. Your immune system is either heavily involved in dealing with the digestive issues or you're taking immuno-suppressant drugs to combat the inflammation or both. So your body's immune system doesn't have enough oomph (technical term!) remaining to combat another invader. . This should improve the longer you're on SCD, your gut heals and you are off medications. Kim M. SCD 6 years
