Guest guest
Dear Group, After reviewing 75 abstracts, I can make a summary of the efficacy statistics for BPD and BPD/DS. The range of weight loss from these procedures is from 62-84% of excess weight. One of the worst report (62%) was by Marceau and was for the procedure without the DS (Aug-95). The best report was also by Marceau (84%) with the DS procedure (Nov-95). The worst report was by Bajadari (60%) in Feb. 2000. This excludes an early report by Ren of 58% @ 9 months. All of the other reports show 70-81% excess weight loss. The largest reports are by Scopinaro and Lernmes and show 75% and 77% excess weight loss respectively. So the data on weight loss is quite consistant. Next I will look into complications.
