Guest guest
Yes, , they do. It would help if you could post the reason you are on SCD and how you were doing before you started so people with similar circumstances can advise you. I will also help to post exactly what you are eating and any supplements. Hope you feel better. PJ > > I am on day 5 and am feeling pretty lost. My naturopath recommended this diet, I started the intro diet on Monday and felt fantastic for the first two days, then the next two days have felt awful and everything coming out of me is black/green liquid. Is this normal? I am eating just the intro foods and added pear sauce this morning (very yummy.) Do the symptoms get better soon? I just need a little encouragement if possible! I am not on any medications right now and after reading other people's symptoms I feel like a big whiner by complaining about a little diarrhea. Any help? > > Thank you so much, > >
Guest guest
Oh, thank you, I forgot to add that in! The first two days I was still taking my regular supplements including enzymes and probiotics but then I read that they were illegal. Right now I am still taking vitamin D, a prenatal given to me by my naturopath and fish oil, all of which look completely legal based on what I can research. Before I started I was having repetitive loose stools about 5 to 6 times a day. Last year I spent a long time ridding myself of candida and a fungus in my intestines, ever since then I have had bowel issues but have been able to stay ok on a very small amount of asacol. I have been eating poached eggs in the morning, a grilled beef patty for lunch and homemade chicken soup by the recipe for all other times. On day three, when my tummy went the other direction, I had some cheese labeled farmer's cheese. I immediately got sick and then have had diarrhea since. I haven't eaten it again, I am assuming it wasn't the DCC I was looking for. I am just hoping that the dark green scary color and everything else is ok and I should keep going. Thanks! > > > > I am on day 5 and am feeling pretty lost. Your body is rebelling because you're not feeding it the sugars and starches it's used to, and craves. So the bacteria that feeds on that stuff is starting to die -- and you're getting rid of it! Be glad you're rid of it. :-)  This could last for a little while -- how long depends on the person and how bad a shape your gut was in before you started. But it WILL pass (literally and figuratively). The farmer's cheese you tried may well have been legal dry curd cottage cheese. But not everybody can tolerate it, especially at first. I couldn't (and didn't like the taste of it either), but now I can. Same with yogurt. Are you making and eating the legal yogurt, fermented 24 hours? That's very important, even if you just take a small spoonful at a time at first. You need to start populating your gut with the probiotics that yogurt contains. Do hang in there. n>> >> >>> > I am on day 5 and am feeling pretty lost. Guest guest
Hi , There are products labeled farmer cheese that are not DCCC. I've seen them at Wal Mart and they are popular with Hispanic cooking. Perhaps you got this instead which caused you problems. Some people find giving up eggs helps with the D. The soup, Epsom salt baths are very helpful. You might want to stop the supplements, just for a few days, to see if this helps. What prenatal are you taking? Some have additives. Are you pregnant or trying to get pregnant? If so, you need the prenatal. It's OK to take Asacol with SCD unless there is a problem with Asacol and pregnancy. Have you tried the SCD yogurt? Guest guest
Thanks for the feedback. I ordered a yogurt machine but it isn't arriving until Monday, I should have chosen express shipping. I am trying to get pregnant right now, I will have to check the label to see which brand it is, are there scd prenatals? I haven't taken asacol for a few months, even before starting this and it isn't proven yet for conceiving so I was trying to stay off of it if possible. I will focus on getting some yogurt in my system as soon as possible and will look at giving up eggs as a possibility. I was a total bread and sweets eater, even though I had been gluten free for a year, so maybe by body is just super pissed off. Thank you! > > > > > > > > I am on day 5 and am feeling pretty lost. Yeah, that's actually a good sign, means the diet is shaking up your gut ecology and probably starting to kill off the pathogenic bacteria. Any change in bowel habits during the early day means that the diet is starting to effect things - the first month or two can be a bit unstable, but in a good direction.
