Guest guest
Hey guys, I didn't see that I had posted this yet so if I did just ignore it. I got " partial " results from the bone scan yesterday and will get the full report on the 4th of June. My ribs were ok but I have bilateral arthritis of the shoulder blades. Has anyone ever heard of arthritis on the scapula? I keep getting arthritis on strange places such as ribs (flat sections), shoulder blades etc. Could this be from sarcoid? Would a bone biopsy be beneficial? Well, thanks for listening and all of your help. Terri G.
Guest guest
I saw my neurologist after the MRI of my neck & lumbar part of my spine & the diagnosis? "IT WAS UGLY". What kind of dx is that? The neuro thinks it's bulging disks & chemo doc thinks it's sarcoid. The surgeon says come back in 6 months. Geez.grannylunatic@... Fussy? Opinionated? Impossible to please? Perfect. Guest guest
, I'd ask for a copy of his official report from the receptionist. I doubt if he wrote something so vague in his patient analysis. I wonder if they are taught to treat women like morons in medical school cuz it seems to run rampant doesn't it...lol. You can ask for a copy of your MRI, too. hugs S. wrote: I saw my neurologist after the MRI of my neck & lumbar part of my spine & the diagnosis? "IT WAS UGLY". What kind of dx is that? I suspect that if they did a scraping, that it would be from the sarc. Stu was saying that he was dx'd with severe fibromyalgia-- I would bet money that if they biopsied one of the trigger points, they'd find that it's sarcoidosis scarring. ARe they calling the rib and scapula/shoulder arthritis osteo or RA? ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Tracie, They are calling it OA. I went in to see my PCP because I wasn't feeling good and I had a rash. I was asking if it could be from the Imuran and I don't remember exactly what was said, but he admitted he was glad the Neuro had me on immunosuppression. Now that's a first! Guest guest
Terri, I'm glad that they are at least aware of the arthritis. Just recently, they added not only the sarcoid induced arthritis, but added both RA and OA to the mix. The Remicade keeps the pain at bay for about 23-24 of 28 days-- so that is good. I'm a little bit skeptical of increasing the dosage, and I know I don't want the infusions any closer together--as either will increase the risk of side effects and long term complications-- but for now, it is worth it. One thing to remember is that all of the auto-immune diseases have systemic inflammation as part of the process. What this means is that we can have multiple kinds of arthritis (there is some 200 catagorized types) so we do have the serious need to get that inflammation down. This is where the combination of immunosupressants, diet, hydration, nutrition, and whatever movement we can muster has to come in to play. One of the few things we can control is what we put into our mouths for nourishment. Because we are bored, frustrated, tired, and we hurt-- we have a tendency to go for comfort food. and most of it works against all that we need. I am about to do a post on a book I'm reading and need to share with all of us-- so I won't go on about that now. Guest guest
Tracie, Thanks once again for all of the support. As far as nutrition goes, right now I suck at it. I was doing so well, participating in weight watchers, eating what I was supposed to, but I fell off the wagon. I am dying to get off the prednisone, but I will not be done with the tapering until August!!! The mylopathy is horrible and the hunger is horrible and instead of eating what I should, I am eating everything in sight. Luckily, I have only gained about 10 pounds; if I wasn't doing any of the weight watchers it might have been twenty or so. Please let me know about the book. I am interested in reading it. Thanks again. Terri G. > > Terri, > I'm glad that they are at least aware of the arthritis.
