Guest guest
I have recently started using a liquid iodine supplement, and have found it very helpful. My stomach doesn't toelrate much salt, so although I've been using iodized salt and Celtic sea salt regularly I felt it might not be enough iodine for my body. The extra iodine does appear to be helping my digestive motility. Once every 10 to 14 days I add a drop of the liquid iodine to my nightly magnesium-in-water drink. I have a hard time with supplements, and have found the liquid forms better tolerated and more effective. I purchase the liquid minerals from BodyBio. http://www.bodybio.com/storecategory110.aspx I also deal with dysphagia -- that is difficulty swallowing. It is part of having Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. Food gets stuck in my esophagus easily, so I drink water after every mouthful. Not the usual recommendation, to drink water while eating, but it is the only thing that helps my upper GI function. My gastroenterologist endorsed this. In other words, my difficulty swallowing is part of having a dysfunctional upper GI. Symptoms reflecting an intolerance to a food or supplement are different, for me at least. Of course peanut butter will stick going down no matter how functional your upper GI [grin] and I don't touch pork rinds as they are too high-fat. I have to mix my spoonful of peanut butter in applesauce in order to get it down into my stomach. For me, peanut butter wasn't advanced; I began using it in my 2nd week of SCD, in a tiny amount of course, as my body was craving it. Kim M. SCD 6 years >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I didn't realize that pork rinds and peanut butter being advanced could be why I get the feeling like the food gets stuck on the way down. I thought advanced foods might be producing some other symptoms that would be the reason as to why they're advanced.I might go back to the intro diet soon, but I still think I need some iodine.Thanks.
