Guest guest
Caryn, I'm sorry I don't know the answers to any of your questions but I am curious as to how well SCD has helped you. Being on it for 6 years is quite a long time. How were you before those 6 years? What made you start the diet? How much have you improved and how fast? Thanks!-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 7 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 5 pills a day To: BTVC-SCD From: cschmitt6@...Date: Sat, 23 Jan 2010 19:16:49 +0000Subject: Greetings and Questions Hi Everyone,I am new to the group, my name is Caryn and I have had Crohn's Disease for 11 years and have been on SCD for about 6 years. I had surgery a year ago to remove 9 inches of illeum including the illeocecal valve due to a narrowing caused by the build up of scar tissue. Since the surgery, I have done fairly well, a colonoscopy 6 months after the surgery showed that I was in remission! One thing that I have noticed is that over the past 5 months I have had issues with constipation, where as I did not have these problems prior to the surgery, even with the narrowing. I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there who has had similar problems with Crohn's and how you have handled them.In addition, has anyone tried digestive enzymes? If so how have they worked for you? Do you recommend any specific formulas or brands?Thank you so much for considering my questions -- gratefully, Caryn :-) Hotmail: Trusted email with powerful SPAM protection. Sign up now. Guest guest
Hi , The diet has worked really well for me. Prior to starting the diet, I had bad abdominal pains and was constantly constipated. At the time I had been seeing a Gastroenterologist that I wasn't crazy about and didn't see much problem in my health situation. I was frustrated and wanted a more natural approach to addressing the disease. The first month I started it I didn't see much difference and found it hard to stick to. Someone on SCD encouraged me to stick it out for another month and that made all the difference. After 2 months on the diet, I no longer had the abdominal pains and my bowels were moving regularly. Throughout the time that I have been on the diet I have had ups and downs due to stress in my life which has trigger a bit of a flare in the disease, but I know that I am so much better off being on the diet than on strong meds. I am currently on Asacol just for keeping down inflammation. Thanks for inquiring, I hope this helps. Wishing you health, Caryn :-) > > > Caryn, > > > > I'm sorry I don't know the answers to any of your questions but I am curious as to how well SCD has helped you.
