, Has Zach had a sputum sample taken to check for 'bugs'? Last spring, Chelsea was really struggling with her pulmonary issues and was very lethargic and sleeping a lot. She was coughing and gagging a lot on her secretions, which were very thick and tacky. Her pulm. dx'd her with lung lining infection after an exam, and sent her for an xray. Which showed pretty much what Zach's did. She was put on pulmicourt at that time, as well as increasing her albuterol. She also was on oral & neb antibx for 21 days. She was having lots of periods of wheezing during this infection, which is not normal for her. She typically has chronic mucous production, which can be difficult for her to manage. Her asthma is probably hereditary. She has a severe risk for aspiration, but does not typically have serious problems until she is weakened by illness or fatigue. Oh, also, Chelsea's sputum is routinly trested by her pulm, because it always grows psuedomonis (sp?), and sometimes staph. HTH
