Guest guest
Question: What's an " anti-emetic " ? What does it do? Nahodil Woodbridge, VA Pre-Op Dr. Elariny Fairfax INOVA Hospital BPD/DS Part 1 Version 1 Date: TBA 's Uncontrolled Nausea you MUST MUST MUST begin taking an anti-emetic!! You will land right back in Mount Sinai unless you take something to combat the nausea. It is the most common side effect of the BPD/DS. I had it severely for over 3 months---you can't just wait it out, because you don't know how long you'll be affected by it. Believe me--you'll feel much more at peace with the surgery once you're not nauseaus and heaving constantly. Guest guest
I had to try 3 different antiemetics before I found the one that worked for me. After Tigan and Reglan I finally got put on Compazine and that worked like a charm. I had to take 4-5 pills a day (80mgs-100mgs) during the first 2 months and then it tapered down as the severity of the nausea decreased in my third month. Try a different medication...see if that helps.
