I found that the more my food was moistened, the better it stayed down. Good luck to you, you will find what agrees with you best. Guest guest
Hi everyone, it's from NE Philly, 8 days post op and ready for my first post from the other side. I still don't have too much stamina, so I'll be posting about my experiences at Mt. Sinai a little later. I will say this though: given all the bad publicity I read right before leaving, I thought I was in for it. But the weekday/night staff on the tenth floor where I was - along with our own Terry Engelbert - were awesome! (The weekend crew is another story...) Right now, I have a question about the dreaded protein intake. I am not able to eat much of anything right now. Everything that goes in just hurts, from gas and bloating. I also get these very bad tastes in my mouth. Fortunately, I am hydrating very well at about 6-8 cups of ice water daily. Protein is a sorry 20grams a day because I am only forcing down 1/4c at a time. As for supplements - oy! My dh got me Challenge Protein 95 and it tastes like liquid cereal!!! I did make a 22gram smoothie for lunch today, which went down well, but I've got such an aftertaste from the 1/2 cup cottage cheese that was in it....Anyway - at this stage (8 days out) is there anyone that was eating things like cheese sticks or chicken or lunch meat? The handout from Mt. Sinai says two different things on two different pages, so I can't wait to see their nutritionist, Liz, about it...I'm going back to NYC on Monday to have my staples removed (by Dr. Inabet - anybody care to comment on him? Don't read much about him) and to meet with her. So, I hope everybody has been doing well. I've been catching up with the lists slowly. from NE Philly, age 39Open DS w/ Dr. Pomp, 6/27/01 w/ a BMI of 638 days out and yet to be weighed! Guest guest
from ME.....just to give you some hope here with the protein......my hubby and I shared a Mc s cheeseburger when we were 10 days out! We were eating refried beans with cheese and soft chicken tacos from Taco Bell at the same time......it was anything that was appealing to both of us. Dont worry too much about the protein for the first month....you have some reserves in there. Just eat what you can and what appeals to you for the time being. You will make it up very soon! For now, pushing the liquids is more important! Judie Oh, Hi all, I'm back Hi everyone, it's from NE Philly, 8 days post op and ready for my first post from the other side.
