Ruth,

I'd call the Remicade Q & A people about the shingles and ongoing treatment. You may need to get the shingles under control, then go back onto the Remicade.

You've been missed, and I'm glad your daughter was able to help with the old computer. I know how much this can be a lifeline for so many of us.

Take care, and I know that it will all work out.

Love to you,

Hello,

I haven't been able to get into the web site for some time. My

daughter came and worked for a couple of hours on my computer and it is

a bit better now. I am not very good at getting on the phone and

doing as the technicians tell me to to do in order to fix it. I have

been dealing with a lot of back pain and had a block which helped

some. And am still dealing with a lot of eye problems. It's a

roller coaster as you all know. Right now I am dealing with a skin

eruption on my cheek just a little below my right eye. Along with it I

have the same side of my head the skin is super sensitive and I can

tell with I touch it the nerve is inflamed. I am very worried I have

shingles. I saw my eye doctor today and he isn't sure if it is

shingles or not. I have been on Remicaid now for over a year and it

has helped so many of my symptoms that I don't want to stop it. I am

scheduled to have a portacath put in on Thursday. Go back to the

eye doctor on Thursday morning and he will decide if he feels I have

shingles. Does anyone know if I can continue with Remicaid if I have

shingles? If not then there isn't much reason to put in the portacath.

I have missed being a part of the group....ttfn

I had shingles on my face and it is nothing to mess with. The eye

doctor I saw, didn't realize it was shingles and gave me some steroid

eye drops. I had to go see an infectious disease doc to get the

diagnosis and boy did the ophthalmologist about have a heart attack.

The steroids could have made things a lot worse (the shingles were on my

upper and lower lids).

So the morale is, if he can't figure it out, get to someone who can.

You need to start antivirals ASAP. I think I ended up on Zovirax for

them. Don't mess around. They can permanently damage the eye.

I had shingles on my left buttock. Was started on med right away and it made a difference. I was told it is best to get on the antiviral within 48hours of the outbreak.mosaicgirl1 wrote: I had shingles on my face and it is nothing to mess with. Hi, I was reading your post about possible shingles on your face and thought you might be interested in a herbal remedy I found online several years ago that saved my bacon as I could not get to a doctor at the time. "Stash" brand licorice tea; Use real hot water and make the tea strong by adding 2 tea bags instead of one. Let it steep til it is cool enough to apply to the shingles. It works best if the sores are not that far along. Whenever I feel my shingle scars acting up as though they are going to pop up again. I catch them and knock them cold. In fact they don't even have a chance to head up. I have nerve damage in a ring around my chest, front to back where they like to torment me if I over use my arm/hand muscles. It may take several doses of the tea therapy to stop the shingles but there is growing belief in it's use. Thanks for reading anyway.
