Guest guest
Connie, One good thing about haivng sarcoidosis is that our immune systems are on hyperdrive. So many times this means that we will heal quicker. The kicker is that once the leg is healed from the surgery (and i'm sure you're going to feel so much better when this is done) that it may cause a sarc flare. The granulomas aren't going to be able to adhere to the knee replacement, so they may settle elsewhere, or not cause any problem at all. I'd be asking questions about them using steroids for inflammation directly after surgery, as I'm sure this will be one of the things they want to use to get the inflammation down quickly. If this causes you havoc, then ask about what other approaches they can take. I'd be asking how long you need to be off immunosupressants before and after surgery, and tell them that you have systemic sarc, and need immunosupressants so that your sarc doesn't go into flare. I've not had surgery while I've had sarc-- so this is one issue I'm not up on. I wish I had more info. Take care, and trust--- you can do this. Guest guest
Thanks so much , I am trying to get someone to put in the new knee replacement instead of the standard. The new one doesn't cut the tendons and has better recovery. I will know more in a week, I see the surgeon then. I have got to figure out a way to hold on as long as I can to get everything in order before I have to be off. If I can get the new replacement I won't be off work but a week or two. Thank you for the information, I am on steroids all the time because of my breathing, the doctor today said that is why I am not in more trouble than I am already. I'm glad you were kind enough to answer me, I don't get to read or write like I would like too, but it's not because I don't care. Guest guest
Connie I'm sorry I don't have any input but I thank you for mentioning this. I have had little "bbs" in my legs for decades along with one in my shoulder & now a new one in my knee cap. I WILL mention them to my chemo doc when I go next Thursday for Cytoxan. Maybe they could biopsy them & get a bit of sarc in the sample. Let me know what you find out & I'll let you know. grannylunatic@... Luggage? GPS? Comic books? Guest guest
Hi , I am pretty sure it is sarc, I have the little buggers other places too and I my sarc is biopsy confirmed more than once. I can push the ones in my hand around and they have already told me by looking at them that they are sarc. I guess I am wondering if that is why my knee decided to fail now. It has been a nuisance for a while, but suddenly about 4 weeks ago it just blew a fuse. Thanks for writing me back................Connie wrote: Connie I'm sorry I don't have any input but I thank you for mentioning this.
