post-op woes....

Hi, everyone -- I can definately identify with the post-op aches and pains...

I haven't been nauseous but sometimes I get this extreme pressure/discomfort

(not sharp pain but really unnerving) after I eat... It can be just under the

stomach or, later, in my lower left side. Sometimes the discomfort radiates

towards my back. I'm always thinking 'oh, no --- here's the

blockage/hernia'... However, it always dissipates (thank GOD) and doesn't get

worse. I'm five months post-op and it has been a pretty worry-free,

pain-free five months. I would say that these aches and pains have been

happening on occasion for the past month or so. Could it be part of the

healing process?

It just feels very sensitive in certain areas -- could be the 'junctions'

where my intestines were sewn together. I haven't associated it with any

particular foods, either -- It can happen with the stuff I usually am

accustomed to eating. I don't have any diahhrea or problems with it, either.

It isn't gas --- that is a kind of intense or shooting pain and is almost

always mobile for me. It feels like this has something to do with the

movement of stuff through my intestines.

Has anyone else out there experienced this? I try to take it easy and eat

more 'soft' foods at these times (yogurt, etc.) to kind of 'flush' my system

out. I can go for days, even weeks feeling totally high energy, walking for

miles in the sunshine and really enjoying life and then these kinds of aches

and pains throw me for a loop. Sure, I know -- I just had major surgery and

I can't expect my body to magically heal overnight.

It is just so strange that I can feel so great and then feel such discomfort.

Other than that, I'm doing fine. I'm off my little plateau, too --- At 238

and still going down! :)

On a different note -- does anyone have Yvette Santiago's e-mail address at

Mt. Sinai? I have Ivonne's but haven't ever e-mailed Yvette. I want a copy

of my pre-op bloodwork so I can compare it to this three month post-op

bloodwork. Thanks so much!

I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July!

all the best,
