Quack,

First off, you have told us that you feel that you have NS caused by mold.

It is possible, it is also possible that mold is one of MANY causes of sarcoidosis. If you have looked at the FSR site, you will also find articles that state they now know we have a protein missing on a DNA cell. This may be why our immune systems got turned on, and don't shut down. This protein controls the TNF-b cells.

I know you are in a panic and want to know and understand and have a cure for what is going on. So do every single one of us. We've all been exactly where you are, and many of the new people are where you are.

When we are first sick and looking for a reason for why, one day, we woke up and our life changed. Drastically. So we race around to MD to MD, scared, frightened, and we look up every article, every avenue to find the answers to what is going on.

This is part of the process.

The challenge with sarcoidosis is that there is a genetic predisposition to auto-immune disease. There is an enviromental trigger that may have set this off. They don't yet know what that trigger is-- and it could be different in each and every one of us.

For me, I grew up in the agricultural land of Northern California. We were surrounded by rice fields and almond and walnut orchards. One article states that in Caucasians== agricultural dust and pesticides seem to be a common factor that many of have.

For those that were in the 9-11 towers, the dusts and debris seem to be a factor. For service men that have been in Iraq and Iran, there seems to be a common factor. For those in the Midwest, there seems to be a common factor of the toxins in the rivers. For those that raise chickens and poultry, there seems to be a common factor of the bacterias present in bird poop.

For those of us that worked in medicine, or taught school there seems to be a common factor of some kind of exposure.

Sadly, they haven't figured it out. Until they do-- we have to learn to live with our limitations, make ourself as sane as we can, handle our diet and our exercise and our life with as much compassion and self care that we can muster.

Until the bigger picture of what all the components are that cause sarcoidosis, we have limited choices in treatment.

If you look back in the ARCHIVES, you will see that the challenge of what our medical system is willing to do has been beaten to death. Yep, it's broken, and yep, there was more money in AIDs research than in sarcoidosis research-- so we go the back seat. But it is starting to change-- and if you want to put your energy into that change-- then donate to FSR. I've given the site address many times over-- www.stopsarcoidosis.org.

Sincerely,

Tracie
