Professor, University of Texas Health Science Center San Course Information: Mental Health and the Migrant Family. This course content will enhance understanding of mental health issues of the migrant farm worker populations in the US. Topics include: prevalence of mental health diagnoses among migrant families; co-factors related to mental health and disorders; and practical approaches to addressing mental health issues among migrant families at the community level. It will also discuss service discontinuity given the mobility of the population. A special feature of the course will be the discussion of culturally and language appropriate diagnostic screening instruments and procedures and treatment approaches.
