Guest guest
It's true that neck stiffness can be a sign of meningitis or other CNS problems, but the vast majority of stiff necks result from muscle tension. In 35+ years as an R.N. and certified nurse-midwife, I saw a lot of patients, more than I could even hazard a guess, with pain and/or stiffness in their necks. None of them had meningitis, although I can recall doing some extra labs & other assessment on a few people. Of course, with a few exceptions, I was working with basically young & healthy women. So for those of you with these symptoms, don't panic, but get it checked out. And try some relaxation work, alternate heat & ice, avoid excessive stress if possible (of course, you can't avoid all stress; life is stressful!). Guest guest
Tony, this is ridiculously late, but I have only had the internet and a computer to use it on at home for a few days. I have headaches because of trigeminal neuralgia, I have all ideas it is a secondary thing with sarc because it is a nerve problem in the side of the head and sarc loves nerve endings. I use an anti-convulsant to help control the problem, Lyrica is the best and it helps with other neuropathy problems that crop up./////Connie-FLRose wrote: maybe the flare would be much worse without it. Tony, this is such a common dilemma. When it seems like various meds aren't helping, there is always the issue of "What would have happened if I weren't taking them?" And of course, there is no answer to that. I can relate to the lightning bolt sensation. Although I rarely have it anymore, I used to get it a lot in my legs; sometimes my leg or foot would just pop up. Other people would look at me like was doing it on purpose. I don't know if it's because the neuropathy is worsening & spreading, but that particular symptom has apparently left the building. I can't help you with the headaches; I've been blessed in that regard. But I'm sure someone else will respond for you. Hugs those little girls for us, will you?
