Guest guest
Tracie, I have never heard it called that before. I just tell the dr's that I have sarc in my eyes. So at least now I can call it something else. Lynne tiodaat@... wrote: In a message dated 8/3/2007 11:29:54 P.M. The concept behind the plugs is that it keeps the tears you do produce from running down into the lacrimal duct into the back of the nasal cavity. This helps to keep your eyes better lubricated. You still need the artificial tears, and for most of us, we need the Restasis also. What happens with ocular sarc is that the tear glands under the eyelids (top and bottom) become inflamed and scarred, and can't produce tears-- so we need the Restasis to calm these glands down, and artificial tears to help assist our natural tear production. Many of the meds also reduce tear production- which since most also give us severe dry mouth, etc- well, it all goes hand in hand. Guest guest
Yeah, Lynne, some doctors take us more seriously when we use medical terminology. Of course, others think that we are just reading too much! It is kind of fun though to tell a doctor that I have "hyperhidrosis," instead of saying that I sweat like a pig. (Do pigs sweat? I'll have to check that out when I go to the Indiana State Fair this year.)
