You can certainly start SCD while you are on prednisone. Raman Prassad wrote his story about being on SCD and he was on prednisone at the start. The only thing prednisone may do is mask the symptoms of food intolerance. It is not incompatible with SCD. In fact, being on SCD will prepare you for the time you can wean off prednisone. Why not give yourself the head start? Several people on this board have been on SCD and prednisone. It is great that your doctor is familiar with SCD and LDN, but you can start the diet as soon as you like.PJ>> I saw a new doctor today who I LOVE!! He said he supported me going back on SCD, but he wants me to wait until after the prednisone so as to not complicate the issue. He also was knowledgeable about LDN and said if the prednisone does not help that he would have no problem prescribing LDN along with SCD. Fingers crossed!! Any helpfull hints for a prednisone first timer??> >

I was prednisone-dependent so I tapered very slowly so I wouldn't flare.  I was on a roller coaster from 2002 to 2006 with prednisone.  Once I started SCD, I was able to stay off prednisone until now--and hopefully never again.

 

Watch your sugar and salt intake while taking prednisone (what my doctor always told me and it's because you bloat anyway with pred, adding salt bloats you more) and try not to take it longer than absolutely necessary (imho).  Have you thought how you'll get the script for LDN if the prednisone does work?  It used to work for me within 24 hours...good luck.

Have you ever been on steroids before for any reason - if so, how did you react?

Find out the precise dosage he wants to give you for the 6 days.

I've never heard of a 6 day prednisone taper. I have been on and off prednisone for a long time. I had a six day taper, once -- but it wasn't for gut issues. It was for a

badly sprained wrist.

The doc did a high dose the first day, to bring down the swelling and

inflammation, and then tapered rapidly to no prednisone.
