Welcome to the group Stu. It is wonderful to know we're not alone in the battle against the sarc monster.

NS is so very challenging, and you are right-- the frustration of those around us and the mindless comments when you say you've got short-term memory loss is one of the biggest obstacles we face.

Even my MD's have said that they "forget" details when they try to figure out what they are doing at the store.

We know that this isn't the same as menopausal/hormonal memory lapse, and it isn't the same as being to busy to focus on what you're doing.

I know that often times I find myself turning around to go back into town because the primary reason I left home in the first place was forgotten. Like you, many a paycheck has been stuffed away in the purse and (ok, wallet) and it may be a day or two later that I realize it's not in the bank. and the mortgage payment is coming out-- without the funds being there. OOOPS!

This is what the meaning of "patience is a virtue" is all about. Can't we play a different game...

Anyway, we're a group of over 400 members, and we have alot of us that have found we had to become our own best advocates and our own researchers and educators- so that we can get the care we need.

As you've found, the ARCHIVES and LINKS have a tremendous amount of info, and we're here to answer questions as well as share what we've learned. So jump in, share, and know that you've found a family of sarcoidians.

Blessings,

Tracie

Welcome to the group Stu. GLad you have found us. We can try and answer any questions you may have and there is tons of information in our archives (its the link down towards the end of this page). There's usually someone on here at anytime of the day or night (some people may have "odd" sleeping schedules) and also there's scheduled chats - also note bottom of the page. As for memory loss , that's a big symptom for me as well. I forget to pay bills sometimes which I never used to or forget to mail them out and find them a week or two later in another pile! I also have found myself driving somewhere and my kids will be yelling at me because I will be spacing out and forgetting to take the right turn. Or another one which is embarrassing is going to introduce your son's girlfriends around and forgetting their names! (They've been together for 3 years and 2 years consecutively.)

It does help to talk to others who have the same issues that you have. So don't be shy. You can come on here anytime and chat or even rant and rave! We understand, we've all been there at one time or another!Hugs,Debbie T.Co-Moderator lizzyandstu wrote: Hi everyone:This is my first post, I found you a week or so ago and have beenskulking around reading posts ever since. The information is greatand it is so nice to find people who 'get it'. I have over the yearsspent a good deal of time on other Sarc sites but there are so few ofus with NeuroSarc and nobody really understands what it's all aboutuntil they get to 'feel the joy!', so thanks for being here!!!The first thing that really

connected for me was the discussions aboutmemory loss, I've been dealing with memory loss for at least a dozenyears and although I have, like most of you, found ways to cope, it'sstill the pits. I hate the feelings of frustration and embarrasmentthat come with having lost a piece of my mind. I'm not sure whatsworse though, forgetting something important like going to the bankand causing money problems that should never have happened, loosingthe memory of something cute my grandsons did the other day, or thelooks on the faces of the people I care about when they realize I haveno idea what they are talking about when they tell me we had animportant conversation which is totally gone. Pretty much I hate it all.I always tell people, (usually when I'm appologizing for something Iforgot about) that it almost 'feels' like there is a wall between meand the memory that's missing and the only thing I can do is relax

andtry to slowly work my way toward the memory. I don't know if thatmakes sense, but that's the way it works with me anyway, sometimes ifI'm really lucky, I can imagine I am walking or driving towardwhatever it is Im trying to remember and if I don't allow myself toget frustrated, and stay relaxed after an hour or two I can get to thememory. This sure doesn't work every time but once in awhile it worksout. What's really pathetic is that when I do manage to recapture afragment of memory I'm so excited I want to tell everyone about my'huge' accomplishment, but how do you explain something this weird tosomeone who has never experienced this kind of problem.Oh well, I'm really just rambling on about this, but it sure does helpknowing that there are other folks out there who have the sameproblems, you know what they say about misery loving company!Stu~~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~~The
